  When I did an image search for Picasso, I noticed that there were also pictures drawn by AI.  It stands out for its low  quality: Lack of harmony and balance. Why is the artistry poorer than generative music? You can listen to David Cole's Bach composed by Emmy on YouTube. It is said that even experts are fooled by the performance. David Cole, who created the music generation bot, was a classical music composer. Music scores can be digitized, so algorithms for composing music can be created. The common denominator of all the artworks is the linear image.  We can look at a picture as a pattern, ignoring color and shading. Since all shapes are geometric, all the elements of a shape can be quantified:  bends in a line, the concavity and convexity in a loop.   In daily life, digital images found on the Internet are also works of art.  One condition of a work of art is that it be an image that can be seen and enjoyed every day. Matisse's drawings can be found on the same page in a mixture of varying degrees of finish.  As I can easily tell which a better work is based on my taste, I have no inconvenience selecting interesting works among many images.   Criticism cannot begin without analyzing each item one by one. I recently found a drawing on  Twitter that appears to be a study for this work. In the image on the right, the realistic elements such as a beautiful model with thick hair are gone, and the drawing stands on its own, with the line structure taking center stage. Whenever I search for “Hokusai manga”, a page about "The Blind” will come up on top.   This book is popular among manga artists, but painters don't seem to be interested in it. Rather than viewing this as an introductory book on how to draw, it is interesting to see it as containing the secrets to achieving artistic effects.   Among the nude drawings by Matisse that can be found through image search, I have found images with a high degree of perfection. It turns out they were made to illustrate a collection of Mallarmé poems. The idea that we can't understand art until we see the real thing is still circulating. But ninety-nine percent of the works I have seen are reproductions. If we accept that design (image) is the essence of art, by looking at art books and digital images, we can find the answer to what art is.  In formal art theory, digital images are also works.      from [Blog "Unified Art Theory"]   Genuine works of the print collection  in museum collection are not readily available to see. Kiyonobu's name is well known but his work is not understood. One of the reasons is that most people don't realize that reproduction is enough to enjoy seeing. In the previous blog "Cézanne, Seurat and Beardsley arrived at the same technique", I wrote two conditions of modern art from the level of formalism: Constructing with only arcs of a few circles of different sizes creates harmony.
