Sharaku’s. technique with the motif of umbrella were already used in Shunrou’s work

Katsushika Hokusai, Offering Pails of Water, c. 1790

I found a work by late Shunrou on Twitter: "Katsushika Hokusai, Offering Pails of Water, c. 1790"

One of the characteristics of the late Shunrou period is an image that captures a moving person in an instant.

The explanation of the title can be ignored because the work loses the illustrative meaning over time.

The work gains universality as a formal work.

We can express the motif as [2 person 十 umbrella].

This work is  made with arcs of the circles which make the bones of the umbrella.

I put out the great circle model of a picture with an umbrella by Sharaku at about the same time.

Shunrou was making works with an umbrella motif  five years before.
